Huerco S rails Olin’s From Iceland tracks down dustier house and disco backroads in a superb pair of remixes for Weimar, Germany’s Giegling crew.
Leading on from the heady ambient dimensions of his 2nd album, For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have) and the gauzy sleep-house sequence of his remix for CFCF’s Transcend, these cuts effectively find him flirting with the ‘floor again in his beautifully half-cut, effortless style.
On the A-side he smears The Stylistics samples of People Fix to a pendulous shimmer somewhere between NWAQ and the M-Series before gradually letting it all fade away from the half way point and revealing teasing aspects of the original licks.
With From Iceland on the other side, he reshapes the original’s chiming keys and Reichian guitar line – lifted from The Mercury Program’s To/From Iceland – to sound more like a melted Soundhack gem, bubbling up with snatches of the original horns and vaporous traces of vocals.
